UMaine Museum of Art Fashion Challenge
________________________________________________

On October 3, 2008 UMMA held its first Fashion Challenge event. inspired by BRAVO'S Project Runway, designers and their model cpmpeted for prizes and the honor of being called the most art-rageous.

UMMA's Fashion Challenge coincided with the opening of the Celebrities and Socialites: Photographs by Andy Warhol exhibition. Designers created garments that a celebrity would wear to an artful evening affair or perhaps Warhol's famed Studio 54. The challenge was that they could only use items purchased from a hardware or drugstore to create their garments!

The top prize went to designer Shanice Cruz and her sister Semaj who modeled the design (above). Fashions by Bella Luna and Sophronia Designs were debuted and the fabulous local band Ukelele Funk provided the music.
