I-95 Triennial Invitational Exhibition
To open April 22, 2010

The University of Maine Museum of Art is pleased to announce the creation of the I-95 Triennial Invitational Exhibition that will run from April 22, 2010 through mid-June. The exhibition will occur every three years and feature a survey of the finest contemporary artists working in four New England states: Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. UMMA Director George Kinghorn states, “We are looking forward to the kickoff of this innovative exhibition and expect to see a great number of exceptional submissions from artists working in these states. This stretch along Interstate 95 runs through major hubs of artistic production and will provide a glimpse into the diversity of creative practice in the region.”

The exhibition is open to professional artists working in varied media including painting, photography, sculpture, video, drawings, and prints and will be reviewed through artist submissions. The Museum will begin accepting submissions for the I-95 Triennial Invitational on Monday, September 21, 2009. The deadline for submissions is Friday, October 16, 2009. The University of Maine Museum of Art, located in historic Norumbega Hall in downtown Bangor, is a part of University of Maine which is the state’s premier public university. UMMA focuses on exhibiting contemporary art in all media and has a permanent collection of over 3,100 objects with strengths in contemporary photography, works of paper and original prints. The Museum will devote all of its changing exhibition galleries to the Triennial. |
