Millions Taken Daily

Millions Taken Daily Photographs from Everyone and Everywhere
July 13 – October 6, 2007

The University of Maine Museum of Art is currently accepting submissions for
Millions Taken Daily Photographs from Everyone and Everywhere. The exhibition explores the idea that photographs are an integral part of daily life and that we all have a hand in creating and collecting them. Millions Taken Daily ...  will display photographs from all over the globe, submitted by anyone (yes, anyone). There is no particular theme or subject and each person may submit up to 20 photographs. Images will be installed from floor to ceiling in the museum.

Submission Rules and Guidelines
(by submitting a photograph, you are agreeing to the following terms):

  • Anyone, including professionals and amateurs, may submit up to 20 photographs of any subject. All photographs that meet submission guidelines will be exhibited; there will be no jury process.
  • Photographs may be either original work or found images.
  • Photos may be individual images or a collection of photos meant to be tiled together in a grid.
  • All work becomes the property of UMMA and will not be returned.
  • All works are to be submitted without formatting (no frames, mats, or mounted images will be accepted.)  
  • All images must be no larger than 81/2 x 11".
  • All photographs must be printed on photographic paper or output on photo-quality printer paper.
  • No email submissions will be accepted.
  • Postage for submissions should be prepaid or item will not be accepted. No COD’s.
  • All submissions must be unsigned. Any work with a signature will not be accepted.
  • UMMA will not be able to inform contributors if their pictures will be on view and reserves the right to edit inappropriate material as necessary. 
  • No individual credits will be given in the exhibition, but you may include your participation in the show on your résumé or curriculum vitae.
  • The contributor grants UMMA the right to reproduce his/her images in any form or
    medium, including on the Internet, and to grant that right to others to publicize the exhibition, UMMA or its programs.
  • The photograph will be affixed to the gallery walls with pushpins, or by other similar means, at UMMA’s sole discretion.
  • There is no fee to enter.
  • No telephone calls.
  • Deadline for submissions is June 25, 2007.
